Forecast discussion, Mon., Sept. 11, morning
Today's Update Winds will be very light during the morning and will pick up from the southeast at 10-15 knots during the afternoon. Showers are not quite as widespread over the Gulf as yesterday. Expect low clouds forming at top of pbl around 930-1000 AM and thundershowers forming in the afternoon, with widely scattered showers already present. Galveston background ozone levels are very low, so while isolated exceedences could form in stagnant air prior to the thunderstorms, a widespread ozone event is unlikely. The thunderstorms will form along the coast and migrate inland, but north Texas will remain dry. Max temperature Near 90 Quick Look at Tomorrow Afternoon winds will have more of an easterly component but will remain light. Possible flow reversal in the morning with very light winds until afternoon, so high ozone will depend on how early the thunderstorms clean things out. Scattered thundershowers in the afternoon. A cold front will reach north Texas, with thunderstorms likely inland along the cold front. Multi-Day Outlook Cold front stalls in central Texas, but moisture ahead of it remains high. If the tropical stuff starts organizing itself, we could have both light winds and clear skies for at least one of the upcoming days. Forecaster John Nielsen-Gammon
