Background ozone levels appear to be low today. A coastal front is setting up about 40 km offshore, with scattered thundershowers developing along it and drifting northwestward. Over Houston, the low-level northeasterlies are confined to the the lowest km or so, with southeasterlies and southerlies above it. Widespread stratus is present over eastern Texas, including most of the Houston area, and the clouds should gradually thicken. Scattered thunderstorms are likely along coastal areas, but probably won't penetrate much farther inland than Houston. Areas such as Austin and Dallas will be hit-or-miss with low clouds - as visible satellite imagery becomes available, it appears that there's the danger of any given city being socked in.

Widespread scattered thunderstorms on Sunday throughout eastern Texas. We then settle into a moist tropical pattern with disorganized frequent scattered thunderstorms. A Gulf of Mexico tropical cyclone cannot be ruled out either.
