Houston/Galveston/Beaumont Area This page links to backward air trajectories for the Ship Channel region for August and September of 1999. These trajectories were obtained from the Air Resources Laboratory of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The images are calculated every day for 2100 hours Zulu (Z) or Universal Coordinated Time (UTC), which is 3 pm Central Standard Time or 2 pm Mountain Standard Time. Current trajectories for the past 30 days can be viewed from the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission website. The maps illustrate estimates of the general path air traveled over 48 hours to arrive at a particular Texas location. Each backward trajectory map shows an aerial (plan) view of the path a parcel of air took and a vertical view of its movement at different altitudes before arriving at 164 feet (50 meters) above the earth's surface at a particular location.
